When Indra Kills the Cow

"Get out "  said the Brahmin as he chased the hapless cow with a stick in his hand. " This is the last time this wretch is going to ruin my garden" he thought to himself.  Whack ; He struck her yet once again. The cow ran faster now, her eyes glazed with fear. It was then that misfortune struck. The cow tried to jump across the fencing. Her attempt landed her right in the middle of the fence on a sharp stump of an Acacia tree. The stump pierced her heart and killed her instantly. In ancient India it was a sin to kill a cow as it was considered sacred. The Brahmin was summoned to the kings court. " Are you the Brahmin who killed a cow" asked the King renowned for his adherence to truth. The Brahmin was prepared for this question. Purva-Tapa and Pre-Healing

( Meanings of certain Sanskrit as well as IT jargon used in this article can be found at the bottom of this post )       One of the greatest battles ever fought was about to begin.  The armies on both the sides were ready, waiting for a sign so that they could hurl themselves on to each other.  This war was being fought between members of the same clan. They were all related and many had to make a painful choice of picking one side versus the other. In fact most weren't even enemies . A war that was being fought because those who were in power turned a blind eye to the  festering hatred, ego issues, greed, jealousy and the unethical practices of their close kith and kin who abused the power that they had access to.. The Backup Plan.

2 nd   Feb 2012. It was 10:20 pm. Sangeeta my better half, was almost done with putting our two little ones, Aum and Sri to sleep. Whilst Aum and Sri were peacefully tucked in bed, little did they know about the ordeal their mother would be going through. In no less than an hours time we were at the hospital. I parked the car at the entrance, asked Sangeeta to wait inside so that I could report her arrival and get her admitted. I was greeted by a nurse from behind closed grille doors. On being told that we had arrived for the delivery, she rushed off inside. Assuming that she was off to get the keys, I waited and waited and waited. "Whats taking you so long" I heard Sangeeta  call from inside the car. Jolted awake from my reverie I rattled the lock once more, calling for assistance. I saw the nurse approaching me and heaved a sigh of relief. But No. She did not open the grille doors. Instead she politely told me that they weren't accepting any patients that day. ...
