'Oh Corona': Why this Flu?

The Hindi word ‘Karona’ is a request to Take Action. Kuch Karona simply means ‘Do something’. That something for most of us today is being prepared.

If you are looking for one tablet, one injection and one cure, then keep waiting… Life cannot be lived on tablets and injections. The enemy out there keeps morphing, it keeps changing.
The best thing we can do right now is to invest in our body's defence system, empower it, stand by it and support it- with good nutrition, diet and lifestyle.

If you really want a simple answer to the question: Oh this Flu ! What do we do?
A no brainer solution: Stop using Animal products. Even if you are not able to cut down on the usage of these foods completely, at least get started on the path.
And yes before we point a finger at someone else, please be forewarned that most of us who are dependent on animal products share equal responsiblity. A person who drinks milk cannot claim to be better off than someone who eats meat. More on this later...

So, who wants no brainer solutions? ‘We the People’ need 'Common Sense', the convenient logic followed by the majority. Why should I change my ways and sacrifice my happiness if others are indulging and enjoying their life…..

But there is something you ought to know.
The viruses that are moving over from animals to man are here because of our need to pander to the demands of our senses.
Simple mathematics: More the animals that are being farmed, higher would be the proportion of infected animals and that would increase the probability of a virus being able to jump over from an animal to a human handler and then on to the rest of the population.

I for one think that the ‘Coronavirus’ is one of the kinder viruses that has jumped ship. I dread to think about the new deadlier ones that would be created by “Us the Masses” that could wipe us out in larger numbers…

Hint: The ecosystem 'Nature' strives towards balance, if we cause an imbalance we could be her next major assignment.
More on the dangers of Animal farming and the possibility of a Pandemic like what we have never seen before in another blog.

Before you go, here is a short list of the things you could do to protect yourself.

1. Don’t Panic. It will make things worse. More importantly, dont be in a haste and treat every small symptom with big medications. Given below are a few related blog posts that will be of help

c. When we consider Healing as a 'Disease'.

2. Invest in a Health-Mate. A family Doctor /Health Practitioner who will be there to guide you in a manner that he does not even need to treat you ! If his company keeps you fit, then you have found the right one.

3. Learn about the following herbs and their usage.

a. Yashtimadhu ( Glycyrrhiza glabra)
b. Amrutballi ( Tinospora cordifolia)
c. Ashwagandha ( Withnia somnifera)

d. Get moving: Walk as and when you can. If you have a pedometer, check your daily average and then try to increase it gradually. For most people the average would be around 3000 steps. Try to increase them to 5000 in the first week and 7000 in the coming week.
For those of you who don’t have a pedometer. Every 10 minutes of walking would give you approx. 1000 steps. For 6000 steps, you need to be on your feet for about an hour.
e. Help balance your natural biological clock:
If your watch is not working you might miss a meeting. If your biological clock is not working you will be having many more meetings with doctors in hospitals !
How to take care of your circadian clock: For starters do not use bright lights especially white light at night. Use tungsten lights if possible. Try to make it to bed early
f. Sleep early. Wake up early if required to do your work, but don’t work till late at night.

Kindly remember fighting disease causing organisms needs energy, preparedness and practice. It is more or less like a practical exam. Unlike a theory exam, you can't cram for these practicals at the last minute. You need to be actively practising and embracing a holistic way of living in order to reap benefits and to stay healthy, especially when there is so much stress and panic around you…..

That’s it for now. Wish you luck.

The Godfather: Achyranthes aspera

This is a classic case of mistaken identity where a plant as versatile and beneficial as this one is considered a weed. The challenge however is that it is prickly, a little difficult to deal with and it has its own ways of bullying other plants. And yes, who needs godfathers ! Do read on... and you might change your mind. This is a powerful herb, a last resort one can turn to when afflicted with difficult to cure diseases. For starters: The devils broom has a way of reversing antibiotic resistance in pathogens - something that seems really magical. It also does help protect from the toxic venoms of insects, reptile bites, scorpion and snake bites. And during natural calamities this plant also comes to ones aid as an alternative food especially during famines: tender leaves can be cooked as spinach and the seeds can be eaten as a substitute to grain. Surprisingly, whilst it helps you survive starvation during a famine, it comes to your aid when you are struggling with unhealthy...

Purva-Tapa and Pre-Healing

( Meanings of certain Sanskrit as well as IT jargon used in this article can be found at the bottom of this post )       One of the greatest battles ever fought was about to begin.  The armies on both the sides were ready, waiting for a sign so that they could hurl themselves on to each other.  This war was being fought between members of the same clan. They were all related and many had to make a painful choice of picking one side versus the other. In fact most weren't even enemies . A war that was being fought because those who were in power turned a blind eye to the  festering hatred, ego issues, greed, jealousy and the unethical practices of their close kith and kin who abused the power that they had access to.. This was a unique war.  The war had not even begun, but Arjuna had already visualized the end of the war.  He saw the battlefield strewn with bodies of his beloved relatives. No longer did victory mean mu...
